Operatives of the Benue State Police Command have apprehended three suspects linked to the recent deadly attack on the Anwule community in Ohimini Local Government Area, where several people, including a pastor, lost their lives.
The suspects, identified as Isah Peter and Moses Peter from Agatu Local Government Area, along with one other individual, were arrested following weeks of thorough investigation.
Below is the picture of the arrested individuals, who were initially portrayed by some media outlets as Fulani herders responsible for the killings.
However, after a proper police investigation and the subsequent arrests, it has been confirmed that the perpetrators are Christians from Agatu LGA - Isah Peter and Moses Peter and not Fulani individuals as previously alleged.
To those who rush to link every crime to Fulani people:
It is harmful and unfair to blame an entire ethnic group for the actions of a few individuals. Every community - Fulani, Igbo, Yoruba, Tiv, Idoma, Hausa, and others—has both good and bad people. When we make assumptions without evidence, we are not seeking justice; we are spreading prejudice.
Rushing to blame the Fulani inflames tensions, misleads the public, and distracts from the real criminals who should be held accountable. Scapegoating does not solve problems - fair investigations do.
Let us learn to condemn crime based on facts, not based on someone’s tribe or background. A peaceful society can only be built on truth, fairness, and the willingness to see every human being as deserving of justice.
